The Baixa covers the lower part of the city center, stretching from Praça do Comércio to Praça do Rossio and Praça dos Restauradores. You can't get more central than this.
Alfama
A neighborhood with cobblestone streets from which you can reach several points of interest. It also has the best viewpoints. Its streets are narrow, so keep that in mind if you're traveling with children.
Chiado
The upper part of the city center, on the hill opposite Alfama (with Baixa in between). An area with shops and restaurants, highly recommended for staying and enjoying both day and nightlife.
Bairro Alto
Bairro Alto is a lively area with shops, bars, and restaurants. It sits right next to Chiado.

Galleries, cafés, design shops, and a lovely garden. Adjacent to Chiado and Bairro Alto.

An office and residential area. Convenient, clean, quiet, and very well connected.
An excellent place to stay.
