"Tapas" in Portugal – a heads-up
Tapas in Portugal are not free. You will almost always be brought bread, olives, and cheeses without ordering them, but don't feel obligated to eat them. If you don't want them, you can ask the server to take them away and you won't be charged for them if you don't eat them. They're usually not expensive — you can check the individual prices on the restaurant's menu.
